Thermography

Thermography is the process of using a thermal imaging camera to detect abnormally hot or cold areas on a component operating under normal conditions. It is a viable, nondestructive evaluation technique to prevent premature failure of a component, preventing loss of capital investment, loss of production and possible loss of life.

United Power Services, Inc. conducts infrared inspections for utilities, manufacturing facilities and institutional facilities globally.  All of our thermographers are certified Level II thermographers. This is accomplished by hands-on field training and certification by an independent training consultant firm.  We use high quality Flir and Fluke P and T series long wave cameras, along with the most up to date software. We do not perform field service work from our recommendations.  This will assure you are receiving a high quality unbiased inspection report of your equipment.

Thermal Imaging
The above photos show how infrared can detect a potential fault that cannot be seen by the naked eye. A temperature variation as shown on the center and right pivot point of this switch. This may be the result of loose connections, an unbalanced load, improper installation and/or normal wear. Click the image for a sample infrared report.
